A Sculptural Series of Lamps Defined by Hand-Blown Murano Glass Cubes

At Milan Design Week 2026, VENINI introduces On the Rocks, a new lighting collection by renowned architect Peter Marino that distills the architect’s rigorous material sensibility into a sculptural series of lamps.

Balancing mass and luminosity, each piece juxtaposes a monolithic base in Zimbabwe black marble with hand-blown Murano glass cubes. The interplay between density and transparency defines the collection’s quiet tension—precise in composition yet atmospheric in effect, as if carved rather than assembled.

The glass elements are crafted using the traditional pulegoso technique, where fine air bubbles are suspended within molten glass. Preserved by VENINI’s master artisans, the process lends the surface a porous, almost geological texture, diffusing light with a soft, organic glow.

With On the Rocks, Marino extends his architectural language into collectible design, exploring proportion, contrast, and a refined sensual minimalism. The collaboration underscores VENINI’s ongoing dialogue with leading figures in architecture and design, advancing contemporary expression through the legacy of Murano craftsmanship.
