GUBI PRESENTS TOVE KINDT LARSEN’S GRACE OUTDOOR CHAIR IN NATURAL-TONE WEAVE

Capturing the Essence of Natural Material
GUBI brings renewed relevance to a Scandinavian classic with the launch of the Grace Outdoor Lounge Chair in a natural-tone weave, extending Tove Kindt-Larsen’s 1936 design into the open air.

Originally conceived in rattan, the Grace chair has long embodied Kindt-Larsen’s affinity for organic form and her sensitivity to light and material. This outdoor iteration preserves the design’s embracing curves and rhythmic silhouette, while reengineering it for durability and all-weather performance. The result is a piece that translates the warmth and tactility of natural rattan into a robust, low-maintenance form suited to terraces, balconies, and garden settings.
The new weave is crafted from a high-performance synthetic fiber that closely emulates the tone and texture of rattan. Rendered in a soft honey hue, it diffuses light with gentle warmth, accentuating the chair’s continuous contours. Each strand is finished with subtle nodes that echo the natural joints of the vine, creating tonal variation and artisanal depth. In sunlight, the open weave casts dappled shadows reminiscent of light filtering through leaves, reinforcing the chair’s dialogue with nature.

Beneath its tactile surface, the structure is engineered for resilience. A lightweight aluminum frame, reinforced with concealed metal supports, ensures long-term stability, while a powder-coated finish protects against corrosion and UV exposure. The chairs are handwoven in Indonesia by skilled artisans, preserving the nuanced irregularity and rhythm associated with traditional rattan craftsmanship.
To complement the natural-tone frame, GUBI introduces exclusive outdoor bouclé cushions in Plutarco, a custom-developed polypropylene-polyester textile available in light cream and light gray. The richly textured fabric enhances the chair’s sculptural softness while offering resistance to fading and weathering, ensuring visual integrity across seasons.
