A New Flagship Celebrating Murano Glass Through Art and Design

Soft light filters through three street-facing windows, drawing the rhythm of Rome into a space shaped by glass, reflection, and quiet precision. At Via dei Due Macelli 64, in the heart of the city’s iconic Tridente district, VENINI unveils its first flagship store in the Italian capital—conceived not merely as a retail destination, but as a cultural encounter between Venetian heritage and a contemporary, international vision.

Spanning just over 100 square metres, the Rome flagship marks VENINI’s fifth standalone store worldwide and the second in Italy to introduce its new architectural concept. Engaging directly with the surrounding urban fabric, the storefront becomes a luminous stage—inviting the city inside while allowing Murano glass to converse naturally with Rome’s timeless grandeur.

The interior unfolds with fluidity and restraint. Neutral, textured walls and mirrored surfaces amplify light and depth, creating a calm yet immersive spatial experience. Venetian terrazzo flooring anchors the space in lagoon craftsmanship, while satin-finish brass and bronze bring warmth to display structures and the reception desk. Ebony wood storage modules add contrast, and custom Rubelli wallcoverings—developed exclusively for VENINI and inspired by the iconic Balloton motif—quietly embed the maison’s identity into the architecture.

Glass remains the undisputed protagonist throughout the space. Coloured hand-blown glass defines the shelving systems, while a passage framed by backlit Gio Ponti tiles becomes a moment of visual intensity, enhancing chromatic richness and material depth. Rosso Venezia, the brand’s signature hue, runs subtly through the interiors as a visual leitmotif—guiding the eye and reinforcing VENINI’s refined design language.

The exhibition pathway presents a carefully curated selection of the maison’s most iconic collections. Sculptural Art Glass pieces celebrate Murano culture through refined forms and experimental colour research, including the Snow collection, which explores the poetic purity of white through a contemporary lens. In the collectible design section, Stele by Arnaldo Pomodoro stands out, translating the artist’s incisive sculptural language into glass and exemplifying the enduring dialogue between art and master craftsmanship.

Lighting design further shapes the spatial narrative. At the entrance, the Esprit chandelier welcomes visitors as a suspended sculpture. Part of the Art Light collection, it highlights VENINI’s expertise in modular and bespoke lighting solutions, reinforcing the brand’s close relationship with architects and interior designers across high-end residential, hospitality, and contract projects worldwide.

Beyond the space itself, the Rome flagship also reflects a broader horizon. As part of the Damiani Group’s ongoing global retail expansion—following recent openings in Dubai and Hong Kong, with further destinations planned across the Middle East and Far East—the store quietly places VENINI within a constellation of key international luxury hubs, while remaining deeply rooted in Italian craftsmanship and cultural continuity.

Reflecting on the opening, a VENINI representative shares, “Rome is a natural meeting point—between our Venetian roots and a broader international outlook. This flagship is conceived as a place of dialogue, where glass, architecture, and people come together.”

With its Rome flagship, VENINI establishes more than a new address. Rooted in Italian excellence yet open to contemporary interpretation, the space stands as a refined meeting point between Venice—the cradle of glassmaking tradition—and Rome, the eternal city and crossroads of cultures, where heritage and modernity coexist in quiet harmony.
