Charlotte Perriand’s Modernist Classic is Adapted for Outdoor Architecture
Nemo extends one of Charlotte Perriand’s most enduring lighting designs into the outdoors, introducing the Applique à Volet Pivotant Outdoor—a faithful and technically refined evolution of the wall lamp she conceived in 1962 for her mountain chalet in Méribel.

Rooted in Perriand’s belief that light is a functional force capable of shaping space, the design remains an exercise in clarity, balance, and atmospheric precision.

The outdoor edition preserves the essence of the original: a compact aluminium structure paired with an adjustable volet that modulates light with architectural restraint. Indirect illumination washes the wall, while an orientable beam provides focused light, allowing the fixture to adapt intuitively to its surroundings. Subtle yet rigorous engineering updates ensure suitability for exterior use, with enhanced water resistance, increased structural solidity, and an IP54 rating that safeguards durability without compromising visual purity.

Available in three configurations—standard, double, and plié—the applique offers flexible lighting performance through integrated LED technology. With outputs ranging from 10W to 20W, warm 3000K light, and TRIAC dimming, it delivers both direct and indirect illumination tailored to contemporary outdoor living. The aluminium body is finished in white for optimal resistance, while the volet is offered in a spectrum of finishes—from black and anodized aluminium to primary colours and polished inox—allowing the piece to engage seamlessly with diverse architectural contexts.
