A Curated Exploration That Documents, Preserves, and Reframes The Shifting Narratives Of Indonesian Contemporary Art (BIASA Ubud Art Space)
BIASA Art closes the year with From the Archives of a Collector #3, the latest edition of its ongoing archival exhibition series and a thoughtful return to key moments that shaped Indonesia’s contemporary art landscape.

This installment places a rare, movable mural at its center—an expansive 2.5-by-12-metre work first unveiled in the 2008 exhibition Open Daily. Created collaboratively by Farhan Siki, Arya Pandjalu, and Samuel Indratma, the mural embodies the energy of Yogyakarta’s 1990s street art movement, constructed over two weeks with recycled cardboard, spray paint, and the improvisational spirit that defined the era.

Complementing this landmark piece is a suite of 23 drawings from Farhan Siki’s Untitled Series and two works from his Fusion Series, all exhibited to the public for the first time. Their inclusion highlights the breadth of Farhan’s practice, from intimate graphic studies to urban-scale interventions.

Presented by Magran Living

The exhibition also introduces life-sized papier-mâché figures by Arya Pandjalu—personae long associated with his ‘bird-man’ alter ego, a character that emerged from the now-historic Garden of Delight exhibitions at BIASA Art’s Jakarta and Seminyak spaces. Seen together, these sculptures, sketches, and murals underscore the deep, ongoing relationships between the gallery and the artists it has championed for decades.
