Good Times, Do Good

This year, Potato Head Beach Club turns 15. Since opening in 2010 on the Seminyak shoreline, it has evolved from a bold building made of 6,600 reclaimed teak shutters into something much bigger, a cultural village, a global destination, and a place where good times meet a deeper purpose.

Legends and future icons like Grace Jones, Snoop Dogg, and Mark Ronson have been drawn to Bali’s Beach Club, which has developed into a cultural center in Asia. With places like Suites acting as recording studios for musicians like Peggy Gou, it’s a center for community, art, and music. Legendary evenings with Grace Jones and Erykah Badu have also been held at the club, and the introduction of Sundown Circle turned sunsets into rituals of sound.

Beyond just music, the Beach Club has a rich history. Its main goals are community development, environmental restoration, and innovation promotion. Today, Desa Potato Head boasts two hotels with a design focus, a zero-waste restaurant, a subterranean nightclub, and a plant-powered “farmacy”. Its landfill waste has decreased to just 0.5% by 2025.

A culinary initiative being launched by Potato Head seeks to create delectable new dishes using 25% food waste as ingredients. This initiative, spearheaded by chef Felix Schoener, will be exhibited through a new menu featuring both food and beverages. From June to August, Potato Head will commemorate its 15th anniversary with events, beachside pop-ups, and cultural get-togethers that will include fresh concepts, limited-edition releases, and memorable times spent with the local community.

On July 26, the Beach Club will throw a nightlong anniversary celebration with local favorites Greybox Ensemble, Sore, Diskoria, and White Shoes & Couples Company. Pak Sedana will conduct a spiritual ceremony the next day to pay tribute to the past and firmly establish Balinese values in the future.

The Beach Club’s 15th anniversary celebration, which will include immersive design, sonic exploration, and sunset rituals, will be a manifesto in action: euphoric yet purposeful, global yet deeply local.
