Encapsulating I.M. Pei’s most notable works into everyday objects

Great news for I.M Pei devotees. Napp Studio & Architects has unveiled a series of I.M Pei works as souvenirs (product design) in parallel with “I.M. Pei: Life Is Architecture” first major retrospective solo exhibition of the architect in Hong Kong.

The souvenirs for the exhibition were designed to encapsulate I.M. Pei’s most notable works into everyday objects. The designs were inspired by various elements including geometry, material, composition and sensation.

From plans and elevations of the Museum of Chinese Art for Shanghai into bookmarks, three-dimensional forms of Bank of China into glass vases, roof plan of Everson Museum into wall clock, interlocking volumes of National Gallery of Art East Building into candle holders, to roof geometry and tunnel framing of Miho Museum into kaleidoscope.

Each object is an abstraction and interpretation of a particular architectural project from his prolific oeuvres selected to be showcased in the exhibition while trying to illustrate the architectural essence of each from a fresh perspective through the lens of architecture and product design.
