SACHA WALCKHOFF X MIKSI RUGS – GARDENS OF WISDOM

Inspired by a Zen Garden & tribute to the tranquility of nature

Designer Sacha Walckhoff collaborated with Uruguayan brand Miksi Rugs unveils the Gardens of Wisdom collection which inspired by Japanese Zen gardens. The collection consists of five rugs, each representing different elements of a traditional Zen garden. Using ethical and sustainable materials like cowhide and shearling, the rugs pay tribute to the beauty and tranquility of nature. Walckhoff x Miksi Rugs came about after meeting in Milan and being impressed by the craftsmanship of Montevideo’s leather artisans. The collection serves as a bridge between different worlds, driven by a shared appreciation for wisdom and beauty in design.

“During the 80s, I often worked in Japan. One day, I went to visit a temple and its garden but something unexpected happened. After a few minutes spent observing this rectangle of gravel planted with a few rocks, my mind literally “flew away” and I remained in a mediative state until a young Russian tourist spoke to me – isn’t it marvellous ?! – he said with his eastern accent. It was, and one of the strongest experiences of my life.”
