Happiness – 25 Years Of Happy Design At Superstudio Più

At Milano Design Week, a 25-year event that began in Superstudio Più on Via Tortona has evolved into a popular festival that attracts a wide range of attendees. The event has become not only a commercial gathering for architects, designers, and industry professionals but also a joyful, intriguing, and playful event that dispenses fragments of pleasure. It now draws creatives and brands from various sectors, including automotive, fashion, food, beauty, and student and artist projects.

The year’s theme is “Happiness” which encapsulates hope and beauty, also each letter is conceived as a small work of art. In these uncertain times, happiness is essential in our homes, spaces, and everyday gestures. The Superdesign Show at Superstudio Più on Via Tortona sets trends and reflects our desires.

The exhibition is marked by the radiant yellow chosen by art director Giulio Cappellini, a tribute to Made in Italy, Lexus’ spectacular show, FORUM8’s 4.0 technology, Geberit’s virtual aquatic experience, and a selection of “the other world” (China, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand) rich in ideas blending tradition and innovation. Happy objects tell stories of unexpected creativity and bring a smile to our faces.

With over 70 designers from 10 nations, participation from 3 continents, and the presentation of more than 20 projects, this year’s international, collective event reaffirms itself as a must-attend occasion for anyone looking to explore the latest trends and future visions of design. Francesco Morace, sociologist, essayist, and founder of Future Concept Lab, will share insights on Happiness and us.

2000/2025: HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUPERSTUDIO PIÙ
Twenty-five years ago, under the direction of Flavio Lucchini and Gisella Borioli, Superstudio Più opened its doors at Via Tortona 27, bringing a new concept of an exhibition district—one infused with cultural, emotional, interactive, immaterial, and surprising experiences. Borioli, with the support of Giulio Cappellini, was the mind behind this vision. The biggest names in Made in Italy and top international designers took center stage. Today, those names return with the exhibition “Unforgettable – 25 Years of Design at Superstudio”, not as a déjà vu, but as a tribute to the art of craftsmanship, the belief in beauty, and design’s social responsibility. With the same curators and many of the original participants, this history— also told in the book “Design Super Show” published by Superstudio—comes back to life. Among the participants: Acerbis, Alcantara, Alessi, Boffi, CAPPELLINI, Cassina, Flaminia, De Padova, HENRYTIMI, Icone Luce, MDF Italia, Moroso, Living Divani, POLIFORM, Poltrona Frau, Technogym, Trussardi Casa, Zanotta.

INNOVATION AT THE FOREFRONT: INDEPENDENT PAVILIONS
The Superdesign Show features innovative installations by two prominent companies, Lexus and Geberit. Lexus’ “A-Un” and “Discover Together” projects explore human-machine interaction in cars, incorporating luminous threads and nature sounds. The “Black Butterfly” project reimagines the electric vehicle cockpit interface through interactive artworks, while Geberit’s “WHERE WATER MEETS DESIGN” offers an immersive experience that combines water’s essence and power with cutting-edge solutions, transforming it into everyday well-being and innovation. Both companies aim to redefine the future of design.

AN ORCHESTRA OF VOICES: THE COLLECTIVE EXHIBITIONS
Superstudio Più is a global organization that combines culture, tradition, and innovation to create a more eco-conscious vision. The Hong Kong Interior Design Association (HKIDA) unveils “Urban Reflection,” a showcase featuring ten teams of interior designers and local furniture manufacturers. The exhibition blends traditional craftsmanship with modern design using unique materials like recycled yarns and glass salvaged from Hong Kong’s iconic trams. The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) and Thailand Creative Culture Agency (THACCA) host exhibitions “Slow Hand Design Thailand 2025” and “FRONT 100” celebrating Thailand’s vibrant diversity.

“Happy objects” showcases products that reinterpret happiness through innovative design. Highlights include Amore Ocean by SLIDE, Artell Editions’ Neoequipal Collection, PlanAbacus’ Glider Chair, ADJ.STYLE’s Rinascita, Michele Pompilio‘s Dancing Stars, Daniele Cima‘s Artphabetable, United Pets’ Elizabeth, and Arcoblu Atelier‘s Tabono Collection.

Materially “The Scale of Commitment” exhibition highlights the concrete commitment of material producers in shaping a more sustainable future. These organizations work together to create a more eco-conscious and sustainable world.

A MOSAIC OF HAPPY PROJECTS
The event showcases a diverse range of designers and their unique interpretations of happiness. Some notable exhibitors include Acmé, which presents “Ode to everyday things” a series of objects that blend innovation and craftsmanship, and the German National Tourist Board’s “Cultureland Germany: a Design Journey.” Flying Falcon by Matia Biagi’s “Motototem” is an elegant motorcycle sculpture made from materials like travertine, glass, and aluminum. Forum8’s “Empowering Happiness Through Web 4.0” project addresses natural changes and challenges through cutting-edge, immersive systems.

Habits with “Light Bites” interactive tableware connects perception, emotion, and conviviality with light variations. Hsiang Han Hsu per Cappellini’s “X Possibilities” installation invites visitors to reflect on the endless possibilities of extending nature within industry and art. Istituto Marangoni Milano•The School of Design through “Sensitive Space” project explores the future of living with intelligent and interactive spaces where design and technology merge to create dynamic environments.

LAPILLI’s “The Yellow Room” is a promenade divided into three key areas of happiness, including the construction site, garden, and materials library. Letright’s “Ombra Smart Pergola” inspired by ancient Greek architecture and offers year-round outdoor living with negative carbon emissions. Niklas Jacob with“Funnyture” collection explores the boundary between design and communication, creating a playful experience through the relationship between meaning and object.

Nikolaus Bagnara’s “Hope” features three distinct spaces corresponding to different emotional states, guiding visitors on a journey of self-discovery. SOGIMI’s “Flying” project, created by artist Davide Dall’Osso, uses scraps as the foundation for his sculptures. And, WOHL HUTTE’s “Bagliore” tea-room welcomes visitors into the modern Japanese lifestyle, featuring Shizuoka tea from Teaste.
