An Elevated Dining Room of Soaring Ceilings, Regal Accents, and Panoramic Jakarta Views

Perched on the 22nd floor of the Fairmont Jakarta, The Crown by Kirk Westaway is the city’s new dining jewel – an experience suspended above Jakarta’s sky. Conceived by two-Michelin-starred Chef Kirk Westaway, the restaurant invites guests to savor modern British cuisine while surrounded by sweeping, cinematic views of Jakarta’s skyline and the glowing greens of the Senayan golf course.

The idea behind The Crown was clear from the start: to create nothing less than the best. “Basically, what we wanted to have is the best of the best,” shares Carlos Monterde, General Manager Fairmont Jakarta.  “We were aiming for one of the top restaurants in Jakarta. The Michelin Guide represents the highest standard of dining, so that’s what we aspired to.”

That ambition led to the collaboration with Westaway—an internationally acclaimed chef whose work they had known from Singapore to Vietnam.

From the very first step inside, guests are embraced by a soaring ceiling that crowns the room with airy grandeur, shaping an ambiance where elegance and ease converge. A playful welcome comes in the form of Winston, the sheep mascot—a whimsical nod to Westaway’s roots in Devon, England. Alongside Winston, artful details such as a queen donning sunglasses and a king with a takeaway coffee inject a relaxed irreverence into the setting, softening the formality often associated with fine dining.

This duality—culinary precision paired with approachable charm—defines The Crown. The interiors, envisioned by HBA in close collaboration with Westaway, are contemporary and refined without being stiff. High ceilings frame Jakarta’s dramatic cityscape, while the design subtly draws attention toward the view, making it the true centerpiece of the dining experience.

The restaurant unfolds across two distinct spaces. Inside, guests are immersed in a sophisticated degustation menu, crafted with the finesse expected of Michelin-level dining, while the terrace offers a more casual escape—burgers, fries, and comfort food elevated by the city lights and evening breeze. At night, lighting, music, and the skyline combine into an atmosphere that feels at once intimate and cosmopolitan.

The Crown sources as much as possible from local producers, weaving Indonesian ingredients into a globally influenced culinary repertoire. Dishes like Westaway’s refined take on potato and leek soup—rooted in memories of his grandmother’s kitchen—show how tradition and technique intertwine.

The result is a restaurant that elevates Jakarta’s dining scene with a rare balance: food crafted at the highest international level, enjoyed in a space where guests can simply relax, linger, and take in the view. With Winston standing guard and the city glittering below, The Crown is set to become Jakarta’s new icon of contemporary dining.
