Honoring Indonesia’s Environment And Craft

Hermès opened its relocated Jakarta store at Plaza Indonesia on 13th March 2025, a much bigger and bolder one. The exquisite environment is inspired by Indonesia’s biodiversity, which includes brilliant hues, reflecting scales, and graceful shapes. The segmented façade has an expertly designed design that sculpts a three-dimensional wave-like pattern, with teal-green ceramic tiles generating a sense of movement and semi-sheer rattan screens tracing flowing curves.

The main entryway welcomes visitors with the house’s Faubourg mosaic in a gradation of blue, copper, and green inlaid in the floor of fashion jewels, as well as women’s and men’s silks.  The equestrian and leather goods collections are guided by bespoke geometric wood floors and framed by fabric-covered panels that evoke the caress of butterfly wings.

The shoe universe is housed inside peaceful enclaves that showcase women’s and men’s ready-to-wear.  Hand-carved green and gold lacquered wall panels reveal the jewelry, and watches salon, while hand-tufted carpets add to the store’s harmony.  The boutique, designed by Parisian architecture firm RDAI, incorporates local craftsmanship with hand-woven gradient wall coverings and furniture rendered in light cloth and wood.  Stucco and dappled walls have raw grains, subtle teal tones, and colorful accessories.

The décor’s visual interplay is enriched by curated artworks from the Émile Hermès collection and a collection of current pictures.  A series of whimsical, travel-inspired window displays, created in partnership with Indonesian art collective Tromarama, exemplifies the store’s creative synergy.

Hermès encourages both regular clients and new visitors to explore its contemporary products in an immersive setting that combines Indonesia’s natural marvels and artisanal traditions with the house’s inventive spirit. Hermès has remained true to its artisan model and humanist values since 1837, producing the majority of its products in France and operating a network of approximately 300 outlets in 45 countries.
