Exquisite craftsmanship that embodies rhythm and radiance

Designer Eddy Betty stole the spotlight on Thursday night (May 15,2025) at the Hotel Mulia Senayan in Jakarta with a jaw-dropping show that captivated an audience of nearly 1,000 guests – from fashion lovers and KQLs to influencers, designers, public figures, and members of the press.

After nearly seven years shy-away from the spotlight, Eddy Betty staged a resplendent return to the pinnacle of Indonesian haute couture with his Luminescence collection. A poetic homage to the sun’s radiant vitality and its ethereal dance upon the ocean’s surface, the collection illuminated the runway with shimmering textiles with intricate ornamentation and sculptural/architectural silhouettes.

From the very first look, his intention is clear: this is couture that dares to sculpt light. Sunbeams refracted across rippling waves, the hypnotic pulse of fishermen casting their nets, the quiet geometry of floating fish cages—these references are rendered not through literal imagery, but through fabric in motion, through craftsmanship that captures rhythm and radiance

Through the meticulous application of classical haute couture techniques—draping, hand-embroidery, and sculptural fabric manipulation—Eddy Betty transformed an eclectic palette of materials including lace, chiffon, lamé, silk, metal, resin, and polymers into tactile illusions of refracted light. In overall, the designs featured sculptural structures, sharp proportions, and intricate ornamentation, all tailored to accentuate the sensual contours of the body.

In the Luminescence collection, Eddy Betty also paid homage to tradition by presenting a series of his latest modern interpretations of the “kebaya”, including a striking bridal gown that captivated fashion connoisseurs. From elongated to cropped silhouettes, each kebaya was crafted with architectural precision—designed to accentuate the wearer’s graceful curves through intricate, sculptural lines. The pieces offered a tailored fit that embraced the body while allowing ease of movement, brought to life with fluid elegance on the runway.
