The New Design Destination in the Miami Design District Opens During Art Basel

B&B Italia announces the opening of its new Flagship Store in Miami, a high-end furniture building placed in the heart of Miami Design District during this year’s Art Basel. Designed by Lissoni & Partners, the prestigious space of about 21,000 sq. ft that spans two floors, introduces a new approach to change the customer’s experience offering Miami an innovative setting that fuses retail and project planning to provide a space where professionals, clients and design lovers can try out the very best of Italian and Scandinavian creations.

The opening of the new B&B Italia Design Studio in Miami will be the first store on the East Coast of the U.S. carrying Design Holding brands, a design retail destination and new, multi-brand experience. This includes the peerless icon of B&B Italia, the sophistication of Maxalto, the timeless classics of Azucena, the avant-garde kitchens of Arclinea, the experimental and innovative creations of Flos and Louis Poulsen’s iconic Scandinavian designer lamps that are designed to shape light. In the B&B Italia Design Studio, each brand plays a leading role with a multitude of surrounding objects and products, offering a brand-new hub that embraces experience, business, and inspiration.

The perimeter windows, which make the space look enclosed in a glass box, allow great visibility of the product and the internal setting. The showroom’s layout presents multiple areas of different styles that range from the minimalist to the decorative, but always with an accent on contemporary living. The stylistic choices and the interior project, as well as the architectural details and materials give rise to a setting full of personality, with a strong, international image.

The ground floor includes B&B Italia’s iconic products and new releases which include Dambo by Piero Lissoni, Camaleonda by Mario Bellini, Tobi-Ishi by Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby, the Noonu by Antonio Citterio. The space also has a large Arclinea kitchen that enriches the Design Studio layout.

When you walk up the grand staircase to the second floor, you are greeted with an extensive presentation of B&B Italia Outdoor, along with B&B Italia wardrobes, a sophisticated area dedicated the sophistication of Maxalto’s latest collection and areas for both Flos and Louis Poulsen lightings.

The new B&B Italia Design Studio is the ideal place to bring out each brand’s iconic style in a fluid space where uniqueness creates symbioses to uncover.

B&B Italia has its entire eclectic indoor and outdoor collections on show in the newly designed Flagship. Contract and retail customers can play around with the various facets the brand offers, displayed across both floors. Collection pieces such as Camaleonda by Mario Bellini and Serie UP by Gaetano Pesce sit happily alongside successful creations such as Dambo seating system by Piero Lissoni, Noonu sofa system by Antonio Citterio, Tobi-Ishi table by Barber Osgerby, and Tufty-Time and Bend-Sofa by Patricia Urquiola.

For the grand opening B&B Italia will also unveil the special edition of the iconic Camaleonda sofa system by Mario Bellini, adorned in a brand-new fabric designed by Stella McCartney – platforming her S-Wave monogram – with a large installation upon entering the space.

The collection introduces the latest printed fabric “S-Wave”, which is the result of a next-generation sustainability innovation introduced by the design company’s R&D team. The S-Wave upholstery, available in two different colours, is based on OceanSafe naNea yarn, which is verified to be biodegradable, Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold and does not contain harmful substances. The material does not shed persistent microplastics into the environment, however, performs like conventional materials.

Maxalto has found its niche entirely on the second floor, the ideal space to immerse yourself in the timeless style designed by Antonio Citterio and appreciate the genuine luxury of these sophisticated creations. Maxalto will present both its iconic products, such as the Apollo sofa, Xilos table and Caratos armchairs, as well as novelties from the 2023 Collection, unveiled at the beginning of the year in Paris. The collection features Arbiter, Lilum, and Amoenus Soft sofas, Despina and Cleide chairs, Sileo bed along with the Privatus screen.

Azucena, the classic Italian brand Azucena founded in 1947, is discreetly yet instantly recognizable throughout the showroom with its classic pieces designed by Luigi Caccia Dominioni.

Renowned for its innovative kitchen designs, Arclinea proudly introduces a new culinary space tailored for the discerning tastes of the US market. The first-floor centerpiece, Thea, features a spacious kitchen within a vast area. The focal point is a prominent C shape layout that seamlessly integrates all aspects of food preparation and communal living. This unique layout encourages a harmonious flow between the kitchen and the adjoining living area. On the ground floor, Arclinea showcases two iconic styles: the timeless Convivium in bronze PVD and wood tall units with signature wooden boiserie for a refined effect. The Lignum et Lapis remarkable island further elevates the space, blending functionality with cutting-edge design.

Flos is featuring a new visual concept that offers a strong customer experience by narrating the philosophy of the Italian lighting brand and its timeless designs. Emphasizing the expression of light and its impact on the living landscape, solids, planes and lines of light overlap like theatrical backdrops with Flos lamps as the protagonists. The space is characterized by mixed materials with tactile effects and finishes including a sophisticated palette of rough concrete, milled wood, black calamine iron and dark grey plaster. Flos icons will also be shown throughout the main floor of the showroom, with dynamic track lighting used for general ambient lighting in the space, providing agile customization and flexibility.

Danish design by Louis Poulsen joins B&B Italia Design Studio by way of lamps that give light a new form. There are decorative and architectural lighting solutions for both indoor and outdoor settings incorporated in classic and innovative designs: every feature of the Danish brand will be represented from the display window on the ground floor up towards the “Piazza of Light”. Louis Poulsen’s floor Light Room provides an immersive space in which expert staff members will demonstrate how harmonious light solutions, interlinked with a top-rate lighting project, can change one’s perception of space. The Louis Poulsen display will include lighting by some of Denmark’s most renowned designers: Poul Henningsen, Arne Jacobsen, Vilhelm Lauritzen and Verner Panton. Works by contemporary designers Øivind Slaatto, GamFratesi and Nendo will also be featured.
