From immersive cultural exhibition to an intimate runway, Ivan Gunawan’s Nusanova 2.0: Sekar Jagat continues its dialogue between Indonesian heritage and contemporary couture. The story of Nusanova 2.0: Sekar Jagat continues to unfold. On August 13, Ivan Gunawan brought 35 selected looks from the celebrated collection to The Langham Fashion Soiree 2026 at The Langham, Jakarta, translating its immersive exploration of Indonesian heritage into an intimate, sophisticated runway presentation.

Rooted in the philosophy of Sekar Jagat—a motif that speaks to cultural diversity within a harmonious whole—the collection looks beyond nostalgia. Instead, Ivan Gunawan reframes Indonesian heritage through a contemporary couture vocabulary, where sculptural silhouettes, dramatic volumes, intricate craftsmanship and richly layered textiles meet modern elegance.

The result is a striking conversation between wastra Nusantara and luxury fashion. Rich colour, expressive motifs and meticulous construction give the 35 looks a distinctly theatrical presence, while maintaining the femininity and polish associated with the designer’s signature aesthetic.

The presentation marks another chapter for Nusanova 2.0, which previously combined fashion, installation art and immersive experience in an exhibition recognised by MURI as the first immersive fashion exhibition based on the Sekar Jagat Madura batik motif.

With Sekar Jagat, Ivan Gunawan moves beyond nostalgia, turning Indonesian heritage into a dynamic language of contemporary fashion. At The Langham Fashion Soiree, Nusanova 2.0: Sekar Jagat once again demonstrates how Indonesian cultural identity can be transformed into fashion that feels relevant, sophisticated and decidedly contemporary—while remaining deeply connected to its roots.
