Concreta – New Art Direction By Storagemilano For Tessieri

With the installation “Concreta” the Premiata Fabbrica di Mattonelle A. Tessieri & C. Lucca, an Italian leader in the manufacturing of cement tiles and graniglia, made its debut at FuoriSalone 2025. The project is the start of a new corporate journey to use a contemporary and creative vision to reinterpret its artisanal heritage. The design studio STORAGEMILANO, which works in a variety of industries, will concentrate on forms, materials, and details to give the brand’s rich history a modern look.

Presented by Molteni & C

The installation is situated in a temporary area at the new Magazzini Bracchi headquarters construction site. The 600 square meter space will feature items from a carefully chosen range of furniture and material brands, such as Tessieri, and provide a full range of services that address every stage of the building process. The installation seeks to transport viewers to a different world by fusing Tessieri’s artistry with STORAGEMILANO’s modern architectural vision and potent artistic allusions.

With the introduction of new formats and reimagined laying patterns, Tessieri’s DNA—the reinterpretation of decoration—emerges in a sophisticated synthesis of tradition and innovation. Since Concreta is the physical embodiment of a design concept and evidence that an imaginative gesture can materialize as matter, volume, and experience, it is concrete, material, and deeply ingrained in the project’s core.

With a conceptual approach characteristic of STORAGEMILANO, the installation features three environments, each of which unveils a previously undiscovered facet of the Tessieri world. With a black floor enchantingly created using new cement tile strips created by STORAGEMILANO and cut from the 20×20 cm format, the first room reflects the modularity and laying of Tessieri tiles. A spotlight highlights the floor decoration in the room, which is bounded by a white mesh cloth suspended from structural tubes.

White graniglia Tessieri tiles, held together with metal components and hung from a tubular grid, create a material tapestry on the walls of the second room that evokes tailor-like craftsmanship. A white chair that serves as a minimalist observation point is placed on the floor, which has been dematerialized by a crumpled white cloth, and a wall projector shows pictures taken by Milk Studio photographer Stefano Domenici that depict the Tessieri production process.

Tessieri tiles are stacked on the ground, just as they are in the company during the lengthy drying phase, alternating color and raw cement, and turning into pedestals that hold old CRT televisions. The third and final room is designed to provide a completely immersive and architectural experience. Far from the bustle of FuoriSalone, a subdued ambiance encourages serene reflection on projections that showcase the material’s allure and the preservation of age-old methods.

In 2002, Barbara Ghidoni, Marco Donati, and Michele Pasini established the Milan-based architecture and design firm STORAGEMILANO. The studio’s ability to work at various design scales—from architecture to product design—while paying close attention to composition, details, materials, and forms makes it stand out. Their strategy is founded on an ongoing quest for creative spatial and aesthetic solutions that are customized for every customer and strike a balance between meticulous design and powerful conceptual expression.
