Known for its refined Japanese cuisine and premium teas,

Takeda Katsuya Design, a Japanese design studio, has completed the Kagurazaka Saryo Milano, a traditional teahouse and bistro in Milan’s Corso Como 12. This is the first European location of the esteemed Tokyo-based Kagurazaka Saryo brand, known for its refined Japanese cuisine and premium teas, especially matcha.

Presented by Molteni&C

The design, led by architect Takeda Katsuya, blends traditional Japanese aesthetics with a modern, minimalist approach. The space features natural materials, a matcha-green counter, wooden paneling, and an inclined ceiling reminiscent of Japanese architecture. Key elements include a Koshi-Do-inspired ceiling, a round window symbolizing harmony, and a stoneware floor evoking Japanese garden paths. The floor of the room echoes the typical Tobhi-Ishi milestones used in gardens to create evocative and meditative paths. A red dry bonsai garden adds a contemporary touch while honoring tradition.

Kagurazaka Saryo Milano offers an authentic Japanese experience in Milan, seamlessly integrating history, design, and gastronomy.
