A Diffused Vision of Milan Design Week Unfolds Across Three Districts

At Milan Design Week 2026, Superstudio moves beyond a single district, expanding into a city-wide constellation. Now in its 26th edition, Superstudio Design introduces a “diffused map” spanning three interconnected zones—Tortona, Barona, and Bovisa. From April 20 to 26, over 30,000 square meters across Superstudio Più, Superstudio Maxi, and the newly introduced Superstudio Village host 70 projects, 91 brands, and 88 designers from 19 countries—forming a global, multicultural landscape of ideas, materials, and experimentation.

At the heart of Tortona, SuperNova emerges as the international core of the project, where large-scale installations and immersive environments bridge industry, culture, and vision. A key highlight is the return of Moooi with Moooi 25 & Promising, a museum-scale exhibition by Marcel Wanders celebrating 25 years since the brand’s debut at Superstudio—reinterpreting its most iconic pieces through reflective scenography and contemporary narratives.

Alongside it, Lexus, Samsung Electronics, and Schüller Möbelwerk | next125 explore the intersection of technology and design, while cultural and educational projects—from Toyo Ito’s One Earth – House of the Heart to experimental collaborations—extend the dialogue between craftsmanship, innovation, and artificial intelligence.

In Barona, SuperCity—curated by Giulio Cappellini—takes shape as an ideal city where design, art, and architecture unfold within a fluid, open environment. Rather than defined by walls, spaces emerge through visual cues, forming a continuous spatial narrative. Within this landscape, leading brands such as Cassina, Boffi|DePadova, Zanotta, and Living Divani contribute to a vision of living shaped by calm, material richness, and spatial harmony.

At its core, TheCity presents a conceptual neighborhood where domestic scenarios are reimagined through textiles, light, and form, while exhibitions such as When Design Becomes Art and Portraits blur the boundary between functional object and artistic expression.

A new chapter unfolds in Bovisa with Superstudio Village and its dedicated project, SuperPlayground—a space for emerging creativity, experimentation, and social design set within a regenerated industrial site. At its center, Keep Your Bubble by Lousy Auber invites visitors into a soft architectural installation made from repurposed hot-air balloon fabrics, reflecting on transformation, reuse, and collective experience.

Expanded through Graphic Days, ARIA by Food Design Stories, and over 30 international designers selected via open call, the program forms a dynamic ecosystem of new voices. With workshops, performances, and extended evening activations, SuperPlayground evolves into a contemporary agora where design is not only exhibited, but lived.

More than an exhibition format, Superstudio Design 2026 becomes a strategic vision for the city—connecting three districts through curated narratives and shared mobility, and reflecting the evolving complexity of contemporary design. It is a convergence of established voices, curatorial research, and emerging talent, reinforcing Milan’s role as a global design capital while opening new directions for its future.
