The Essence of Form of Ellipse

Salvatori introduces a new evolution of John Pawson’s Ellipse collection, now available in a limited edition crafted from sandblasted Verde Antico marble. Originally designed in 2019, the collection of trays, containers, candle holders, wine coolers, and other home accessories is defined by Pawson’s precise geometry and signature purity.

The new Verde Antico edition brings a deeper chromatic expression to the series. This rare marble — known for its distinctive green tones and intricate veining — recalls the refined material palette favored by Mies van der Rohe in the 1950s. Each object is sculpted from a single block of stone, its smooth contours suggesting the slow shaping of rock by water.

“The idea was to create a family of vessels united by proportion and form,” says John Pawson. “Working with Salvatori has been exceptional — their artisans achieve a level of precision and quality that is truly rare.”

The sandblasted finish, a technique that enhances the stone’s color while maintaining its structural integrity, highlights Salvatori’s technical expertise and ongoing exploration of new surface treatments.

“John and I share the belief that true beauty lies in the essence of things,” adds Gabriele Salvatori, CEO of Salvatori. “This collection captures that purity through material and form.”

Produced in an edition of six numbered pieces per design, the Ellipse collection in sandblasted Verde Antico is available exclusively on request at Salvatori showrooms in Milan, New York, and London.
