Encourages Personal Inventiveness And Creativity

Pantone has named Very Peri (Pantone 17-3938) as its Color of the Year 2022, a dynamic periwinkle blue with violet red undertones. Was it expected or unexpected?

Discover the official video of Very Peri (Pantone 17-3938) here.

What a surprising factor about this color is that Pantone created a brand-new color rather than select from the company’s already vast array of hues. Something that the Pantone Color Institute has never done in the past 22 years since 2000.

Life as we knew it may not be the same. We are living in complex times. How can we adapt to new realities and build resilience and hope in these challenging times?

The new color symbolizes these unprecedented times of change. “The Pantone Color of the Year reflects what is taking place in our global culture, expressing what people are looking for that color can hope to answer ,” said Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute. “Creating a new color for the first time in the history of our PANTONE Color of the Year educational color program reflects the global innovation and transformation taking place. As society continues to recognize color as a critical form of communication, and a way to express and affect ideas and emotions and engage and connect, the complexity of this new red violet infused blue hue highlights the expansive possibilities that lay before us”.

The meaning behind the Pantone Color of the Year 2022: PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri displays a spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expression.
