Celebrate the 60th Anniversary by Introducing a New Color Variation, Mustard Yellow
Oluce lighting’s design aesthetic is crisp, linear, and decorative. A subtle, intellectual beauty that over the years has contributed to the company producing some of the most famous and admired iconic lighting in the world. The company has picked one of these very icons to open presentations of its new products for 2024, with an addition to the color range of its historic Spider lamp by Joe Colombo. The white version disappears, replaced by an irreverent new Mustard Yellow.
Designed by Joe Colombo in 1965, the Spider lamp has a single illuminating body in stove-enameled metal, custom-designed for a special horizontal spot light fitted to a vertical chrome-plated rod supported by a lacquered metal base. A melamine joint means the reflector can be tilted and repositioned. The Spider family includes table and floor lamps and is available in black and the new mustard yellow.

Celebrating its sixtieth anniversary in 2025, Spider maintains all the vigor common to Joe Colombo’s designs of the 60s, a time when design aimed to fulfill a function while also making an aesthetic statement when experimentation with new materials, use of color, movement, and the desire to break new ground were the guiding lights of his creations. With its minimal graphics, Spider was the forerunner of the Coupé Collection.
In 1967 it won the Compasso d’Oro Award. It is part of the permanent collections of the Triennale International Exhibition in Milan, of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, of the Kunstmuseum in Dusseldorf, and of the ”Neue Sammlung” Museum in Munich. In 1972, it was one of the lamps on show at the important exhibition at the MoMA in New York that marked international recognition of Italian design: “Italy: the New Domestic Landscape”.
