The legacy of the Orient Express meets a Contemporary Vision of Italian Luxury
The Orient Express returns to Italy, reimagined by Dimorestudio in La Dolce Vita Orient Express, the first of six new luxury trains designed and built entirely in Italy. Conceived by Arsenale and Orient Express with the support of Fondazione FS Italiane and FS Treni Turistici Italiani, the project transforms the romance of historic rail travel into a contemporary expression of Italian design and craftsmanship.

By 2027, five additional trains will form a fleet offering eight journeys across fourteen regions—Venice to Portofino, Matera to Montalcino, and the Sicilian arc from Catania to Taormina. Each itinerary is conceived as a “cruise on rails,” placing landscape, culture, and tradition at the heart of the experience.

Dimorestudio’s interiors channel the elegance of 1960s Italy with references to Gio Ponti, Gae Aulenti, Osvaldo Borsani, and Nanda Vigo. Polished woods, colored glass, satin metals, and exquisite fabrics craft intimate, cinematic spaces. Restored historic carriages—transformed into 31 cabins, 18 suites, 12 deluxe suites, and the signature La Dolce Vita Suite—were reengineered in collaboration with CPL in Brindisi and Omer in Carini, exemplifying Italian industrial excellence.

On board, three-Michelin-star chef Heinz Beck elevates each journey with menus inspired by regional traditions, turning travel into a multisensory culinary narrative. Stopovers invite passengers to explore villages, cultural sites, and landscapes off the typical map, embracing the principles of slow, sustainable tourism.

As the world’s first private fleet dedicated to luxury rail travel, La Dolce Vita Orient Express brings Italian ingenuity, culture, and design heritage into motion. Its inaugural “Tastes of Tuscan Vineyards” route sets the tone for a collection of journeys where travel becomes an art—an experience shaped by beauty, slowness, and the timeless allure of Italian style.
