A Holiday Ode to Elegance, Enchantment, and The Feline Muse

This season, Fornasetti’s cats take center stage — a creature Piero Fornasetti once imagined as an “ancient philosopher cloaked in soft fur.” The cat has long been a symbol of freedom, mystery, and quiet metamorphosis within the Atelier. Under Barnaba Fornasetti, this emblem returns with renewed charm, animating both new porcelain pieces and a special holiday exhibition.

14 November – 31 December 2025
Fornasetti Store, Top Floor (Milan, Italy)

In collaboration with gallerist Tommaso Calabro, the Fornasetti Store unveils L’Heure du Chat, a refined seasonal showcase devoted to the feline figure. Works on paper, sketches, and paintings by Leonor Fini and Stanislao Lepri — spanning the 1930s to the 1970s — create an intimate dialogue with Fornasetti’s own iconography, enriching the festive mood with artistry and intrigue. The exhibition nods to Piero Fornasetti’s 1970 tribute to the cat at the Galleria dei Bibliofili, a space where imagination reigned and the ordinary was transformed. Today, that spirit endures as Barnaba Fornasetti and Calabro revive the cat as a symbol of curiosity, elegance, and expressive freedom.

Felines of Fantasy and Refinement
Leonor Fini’s surreal visions — sensual, hybrid, and steeped in ritual — cast the cat as muse, sphinx, and companion. Highlights include Chat sur pierre (1973) and evocative studies such as L’essayage and Psiché.
Stanislao Lepri
, meanwhile, offers a more metaphysical lens, with works like L’ami des chats (1973) portraying the feline as guide, guardian, and gentle enigma.

Seasonal Enchantment
Together, the artworks and newly conceived porcelain pieces form a refined, festive universe where the cat becomes the season’s most captivating symbol. Perfect for gifting — or for indulging in a touch of holiday magic — L’Heure du Chat invites visitors to explore the elegance, irony, and imagination that define Fornasetti.
