Restraint, heritage, and modern wearability

Maria Grazia Chiuri’s debut for Fendi (Fall/Winter 2026) signals a deliberate recalibration of the Roman house. The show opened with a striking sequence of 17 all-black looks, setting a tone of restraint and marking a clear departure from the brand’s traditionally bold palette toward a more refined and disciplined aesthetic.

Tailoring, lace dresses, and supple leather pieces formed a wardrobe defined by clarity and practicality, while fur-trimmed coats subtly reaffirmed Fendi’s heritage as a master of leather and fur craftsmanship.

Chiuri framed the collection around the motto “Less I, more us,” shifting the focus from individual authorship to the collective identity of the house.

The result feels less like reconnecting the brand with its Roman roots while proposing a quieter, more disciplined vision of contemporary luxury. Chiuri’s debut ultimately may lead to a new chapter for Fendi built on heritage, precision, and enduring wearability.

The set is inspired by an exhibition of pieces by Karl Lagerfeld for Fendi at Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna in Rome, 1985
