Exhibition at Fondazione Mudima, Milano during MDW2025

To mark three decades of his eponymous studio, Christophe Delcourt returns to the Mudima Foundation, Milan in April 2025 presenting Time Stretched—a new collection that pays tribute to the artists and architects who have shaped his creative vision. Infused with subtle nods to Op Art, Arte Povera, and Minimalism, the series explores the poetic potential of structure and form.

Delcourt returns to the essence of making: the balance of a base, the joint between seat and backrest, the interlocking of forms. Here, everything becomes a point of departure, every material an invitation to experiment. As ever, he draws on a deep well of artistic references—from Richard Serra’s monumental presence to the optical rhythms of Victor Vasarely and the quiet logic of Donald Judd—while remaining rooted in his own vocabulary of sculptural restraint and craftsmanship.

Presented by Molteni&C

Highlights of the collection include the YOL coffee table, a study in domestic micro-architecture that abstracts the house into foundation, wall, and roof; and the YUG chair, a refined ode to the Arts and Crafts tradition, with its visible wooden structure and enveloping comfort.

The RYE series of stools, tables, and benches celebrates wabi-sabi simplicity, while the UTO desk—arguably the collection’s centerpiece—transforms the trestle archetype into an elegant interplay of mass and void.

Other standouts include the OGA pedestal table with its grounded yet curvaceous base, and OST, a faceted series of storage units that turn visual distortion into function. The JAE chair traces an unbroken, fluid line from seat to structure, while ULI, an armchair and chaise, balances on the edge of gravity with calculated asymmetry.

With Time Stretched, the collection reaffirms Delcourts ongoing pursuit of formal clarity, tactile richness, and the architectural spirit of furniture-making.
