The Future of Light, Suspended

When designer Arihiro Miyake thinks about the future, he imagines atmospheres rather than objects—moments shaped quietly by light. With Chloris, his newest creation for Nemo, he transforms that vision into something almost immaterial: a soft, suspended glow that feels more like an experience than a fixture.

Developed over two years, Chloris explores the idea of atmospheric design, where illumination becomes a presence on its own. Its nickel-plated steel frame conducts energy with elegant precision, carrying dozens of embedded LED sources. Each light point sits within a silkscreened polycarbonate diffuser, dispersing a gentle radiance that drifts outward like floating particles—technical innovation expressed with poetic simplicity.

Though sculptural in scale, Chloris carries an effortless lightness. Its 74W output, warm 2700K tone, and 3050-lumen glow create a soothing ambience suited to intimate homes, creative studios, or thoughtful public spaces. Dimming options—TRIAC, DALI, and CASAMBI—ensure its atmosphere shifts naturally with the room’s rhythm.

Every element is intentional: nickel-plated steel for mechanical strength and conduction, polycarbonate diffusers for uniform, glare-free illumination. Precision meets softness, shaping light into something emotional and quietly futuristic.

Born in Japan and refined through years of study and practice in Finland, Arihiro Miyake has long explored design at the intersection of craft, culture, and curiosity. His ongoing collaborations with Nemo—from In the Wind to Kepler—have redefined how light can be formed and felt. With Chloris, he extends that narrative, imagining illumination as a sensory atmosphere—gentle, immersive, and forward-looking.
