More than design. It’s a way of living

Audo House is where design meets daily life. Set in Copenhagen’s Nordhavn district, the former 1918 trading post has been reimagined by Norm Architects into a place that feels at once historic and modern, monumental and intimate.

Within its walls, a café, concept shop, event spaces, work areas, and boutique hotel come together in a seamless flow. Each setting is carefully designed yet lived in, inviting moments of connection, reflection, and creativity. This is not a place to be admired from a distance — it is designed to be inhabited.

As the home of Audo Copenhagen, the house also serves as a living showroom for the brand’s furniture, lighting, and accessories. Guests encounter the collections not as static displays but as part of everyday life: over lunch, in conversation, or during a night’s stay. Since its opening in 2019, Audo House has embodied the brand’s collaborative spirit — open to the public, rooted in community, and continually evolving.

In 2025, the exhibition MONUMENTS added a new layer of meaning to the house. Inspired by Copenhagen’s Neo-Classical heritage and modern minimalism, it reshaped the ground floor with a lasting installation. Here, monumentality is not about grandeur but about presence, longevity, and emotional resonance — qualities that now infuse the building as a whole.

Life in Audo House extends beyond design objects. The courtyard, reminiscent of a European garden, provides a serene retreat where plants, light, and architecture coexist in harmony. Wulff & Konstali, known for their thoughtful approach to seasonal fare, anchors the dining experience, whether enjoyed indoors or outside. Workspaces are fluid and flexible, balancing quiet focus with spontaneous collaboration — a reflection of how we live and work today.

Upstairs, ten boutique hotel rooms reinterpret the idea of hospitality. Each one feels intimate and personal, shaped by warm oak, cool stone, and muted palettes that create a calm atmosphere. These are not neutral backdrops but spaces with soul — celebrating patina, texture, and the quiet beauty of imperfection. More than places to stay, they are invitations to experience design in its most tactile, human form.

Audo House holds a certain tension — outwardly monumental, inwardly pared back. It is this balance between history and modern restraint that gives the space its character. More than a showroom or a hotel, it is a cultural landmark: a house of design, community, and life unfolding.
