A poetic exploration in subtleness and femininity

In a quietly arresting display of design and narrative, Indonesian label TANGAN Privé has unveiled its 2025 Collection within a multi-room installation at Savyavasa, Jakarta. Conceived in collaboration with the acclaimed spatial design practice Studio Kure-Kare-Ka, the experience is a testament to the power of environment to shape, and be shaped by, the garments themselves.

TANGAN Privé’s 2025 collection offers a poetic study in subtleness, femininity and movement. Sheer layers, pleats, and hand-worked details bring fluidity to each silhouette, where femininity is expressed through restraint and rhythm.

Rooted in Javanese sartorial codes, the collection reimagines tradition with subtle irreverence—transforming kebaya elements and classic embellishments into contemporary statements. The result is a quietly powerful wardrobe where memory is not preserved, but redefined.

The three-room journey, guided by Shadtoto Studio as artistic director, is a carefully orchestrated interplay of form and feeling—garments and architecture become one and where each space becomes an extension of the collection’s ethos of craft, memory, and transformation.

Room I: Between The Woven and the Wild
The journey begins in a landscape both sculptural and organic. Room I juxtaposes the tactile presence of TANGAN Privé’s 20-piece capsule—12 tops, 1 dress, and 7 skirts—with an earthy materiality. A circular table hewn from solid wood burl invites both movement and contemplation, while a Jepara-carved cabinet sliced by raw metal planes bridges the past with the present.

Foliage encircles the space, echoing the organic undercurrent of the garments themselves. Here, fluid draping softens sharply cut silhouettes, and heritage textiles—including batik Kudus, Songket Bali, and Tenun Garut—find fresh expression in the restrained palette and refined tailoring. The result is a poised tension between the untamed and the composed—a signature of TANGAN Privé’s design language.

Room II: The Modes of Making
In the second chamber, the focus shifts inward. An immersive audiovisual installation offers an intimate window into the brand’s atelier: sketches, soundscapes, and archival fragments come together in an atmospheric exploration of process. It’s a compelling meditation on the quiet rituals that animate each garment and the deliberate pace of creation that defines TANGAN Privé.

Room III: Intermissions and Encounters
The final room extends an invitation to pause. Here, guests are welcomed into an intimate lounge setting where conversations flow over carefully considered libations and curated savories. The room becomes a space of exchange and reflection—a fitting coda to an experience that privileges nuance over spectacle.

This convergence of fashion and spatial design is no mere backdrop; it is a dialogue in material and mood. TANGAN Privé and Studio Kure-Kare-Ka have crafted an immersive world where clothing and environment are inextricably entwined, each amplifying the other. The collaboration is a quiet triumph—a reminder that the most resonant stories are often those told softly, in the spaces between.
