The Iconic Outdoor Lighting Collection renewed with a Fresh New Look

For Maison & Objet 2026, the new Muse by Tristan Auer takes center stage, as Contardi Lighting celebrates 20 years of design innovation. Presented in the poetic setting of Auer’s atelier, this refreshed lantern collection honors two decades of elegance while embracing modern technology.

Originally created for the Cartier stand at the 2012 Biennale des Antiquaires, Muse reimagines the lantern as a contemporary design object. Its form draws inspiration from portable lamps across cultures—from Chinese and Moroccan lanterns to Parisian streetlights—resulting in a versatile piece that works seamlessly indoors and outdoors. Here, Tristan Auer’s refined aesthetic meets Contardi Lighting’s archi-decorative approach, blending elegance, function, and storytelling.

“I am delighted to unveil the evolution of Muse, a symbol of our collaboration with Tristan Auer. The new Muse honors its origins while embracing new technologies,” says Massimo Brigandì, General Manager of Contardi Lighting.

The 2026 update introduces subtle yet meaningful refinements. Both Muse Wired and Muse Nomad are offered in black, bronze, terracotta, and cream, each featuring a braided leather handle for effortless portability—whether on the floor, a table, poolside, or even on a boat deck. Muse Wired comes in medium and large sizes, with the light positioned at the base inside a ribbed glass diffuser, casting dynamic lines while ensuring optimal illumination. The wireless Muse Nomad emits a soft, warm glow through an amber-tinted plexiglass diffuser and is available in small, medium, and large sizes, combining versatility with understated elegance.

Both models are IP65-rated for water resistance, and the metal frames undergo cataphoresis treatment for corrosion protection. The Nomad uses a 3-watt LED module delivering 400 lumens at 3000 K with a CRI over 90, offering six to eight hours of autonomy and up to 600 battery life cycles, rechargeable via USB Type-C in four hours (adapter not included).

For 20 years, Contardi Lighting has seamlessly combined decorative design and technical performance, letting light take center stage. The new Muse continues this legacy, illuminating spaces with elegance, versatility, and a quietly bold sense of style.
