A Tricky Process With Element Uniqueness To Every Piece
The Patchwork Collection is a testament to Dan Yeffet‘s artistic vision and Veronese‘s commitment to innovate and push further the boundaries of glass craftsmanship. In this collection, the design challenges the technique. While both Yeffet and Ruben Jochimek, Veronese‘s creative director, identified the technical difficulty straight from the beginning, they still decided to go for it, after months of back-and-forth and discussions on how it would actually work.
What sets the collection apart, is the unpredictable result of the shape at the end of a tricky process that required the team of artisans to figure out precisely what were the right temperatures to unite the mold-blown base vessel with the molten glass patches without breaking or melting. This is what led Jochimek to decide to produce it in batches with colors and textures being chosen spontaneously. What would stick together would be in the collection, and so be it. The glass patches on the pieces feature various thicknesses, shapes, and organic lines, allowing the glass itself to dictate the narrative of each creation. This element of serendipity and storytelling adds depth and uniqueness to every piece.

Glass Challenges
Jochimek personally got involved in the process, working the cane with Murano artisans to overcome the challenge. At the workshop, he worked side-by-side with the artisans choosing colors and textures in the moment. That level of commitment was a first. Usually, Murano artisans master their elegant ballet on their own, but this time was different. Jochimek assisted in manipulating the cane, and the craftsmen entrusted him with placing the patches on the base and setting up the patches before the glass was laid. Jochimek lived this one-of-a-kind experience as a true gesture of trust and friendship after years of silent collaboration and common passion for the unpredictable material.
Reflecting on this experience, Jochimek expressed, “This peek moment of collaboration was the most exciting part of this project for Veronese. Getting on the floor, side-by-side with the artisans we’ve worked with countless times, and experiencing with them the pressure and heat was a moment of pride. To know that Veronese has built such trusting relations with the artisans opens more doors for creativity to flourish even further.”
With such a production, the Patchwork Collection comes only in limited batches. Each piece carries a unique number and Dan Yeffet‘s signature, making them exclusive works of art that beckon to art enthusiasts and collectors alike.
Dan Yeffet‘s path followed Jochimek‘s instinct and knowledge of the material. He sought to “let the organic nature of the Murano glass lead the way and see where it would take me.” Yeffet was drawn to the element of surprise and the controlled imperfections that add depth and character to each.
The Patchwork Collection complements the Veronese‘s legacy with vessels and centerpieces. It adds a testament to the enduring allure of Murano glass craftsmanship. In each of these unique pieces, one can read how far the brand is willing to go to redefine decorative art.
