USP RESIDENCE PROJECT IN SINGAPORE BY TSDS INTERIOR ARCHITECTS

Exquisite: Nothing Less, Nor Too Much

There is always an interesting story behind the journey of working on a project. Starting from meeting the client and designing to the overall finishing. And it has happened in the USP Residence Project!

The residential project in the heart of Singapore presents a little challenge for TSDS Interior Architects because contact between the customer and the designer is quite “distant”. However, this serves as a source of pride and excitement for TSDS Interior Architects because the communication issue has been overcome, and the customer fully trusts the work of this USP Residence Project.

TSDS Interior Architects worked for 12 months to create a two-story apartment with an “understated luxury” design style for a young couple and one daughter. USP Residence is constructed with this design approach or philosophy in mind, as evidenced by the composition/play of materials in one room that incorporates components of wood, stone, and fabric, each with a unique finish. Furthermore, the interaction of color composition and texture on the material results in a harmonic design orchestration for the client’s five senses. TSDS Interior Architects thinks that luxury is produced when the homeowner lives comfortably and warmly in the design results.

Furthermore, one of the primary aspects of the design philosophy used by TSDS Interior Architects is related to the present day, in which many technologies can produce natural materials, causing many individuals to renounce their use of these materials. The use/experimentation with particular materials is sometimes solely focused on achieving a luxury that we believe is a false luxury. TSDS Interior Architects believes that it is the designer’s responsibility to reflect natural materials and display natural beauty, resulting in a spatial experience that is not only visually appealing but also feels good to all five human senses.

The major component in developing this project is how the USP Residence design process begins with the placement and modification of the existing space’s function to meet the client’s requirements. The availability of very restricted space dimensions for the client’s practical needs is TSDS Interior Architects‘ primary concern.

The USP Residence that TSDS Interior Architects wishes to present is not a visual luxury but rather a peaceful space experience in which the tenants of the house can utilize this location as a holiday site or a stopover from the exhaustion of life in the metropolitan city. It’s like a sanctuary!

The client’s request for how to create a design composition with the use of elegant materials and also the selection of comfortable furniture and long-lasting designs made for an epic collaboration between TSDS Interior Architects and Christian Liagre, which is one of the best furniture products in the world.

The design and material quality of Christian Liaigre’s furniture is completely in line with the client’s design idea and expectations. The design team thinks that effective design is a collective effort. So, using the proper furniture and décor will help to create a comfortable home. Each item of furniture and ornament supports the interior design concept rather than competing with it, adding aesthetic value and comfort to the home. In keeping with the notion of “understated luxury,” TSDS Interior Architects picked a kitchen cabinet from the newly released Molteni & C Dada series to complete the kitchen’s luxe appeal.

Each room at USP Residence also ‘experiences’ special attention. In general, TSDS Interior Architects designates one key accent for each room as the center of attraction.

As in the family room, the presence of a composition of ceiling play with sliding partitions gives a more intimate feeling to the interior space. The play of lattices harmonizes the incoming sunlight, providing a sweetened dark and light dimension to the family room. The use of lighting in each room also focuses on lighting the furniture and artwork elements displayed on the walls. The use of very minimal general lighting adds to the atmosphere of the room and how the occupants of the house can appreciate the texture of each material used. With the development of technology, many families no longer spend time in the living room and are more focused on playing with gadgets rather than communicating with each other.

So specifically in this room, TSDS Interior Architects designed a room that is specifically for family members to sit back and relax comfortably without electronic media. The composition of the wooden ceiling and wooden sliding partitions presents a room atmosphere that continues to change from morning to night so that the room does not feel boring. Every change of light and shadow that illuminates the family room provides warmth to just sit and tell stories. Red accents are a sweetener that brings life to the shady atmosphere of the room. The use of materials and compositions between stone, wood, and white walls adds a shady and calm feeling, isolated from the noise of the city.

The use of exquisite marble themes with honed finishes adds elegance to any area while minimizing the appearance of monotony and stiffness.

The use of color in each room tells a different story and experience; the family room, with neutral tones and red accents, becomes a vibrant space for the client to spend a lot of time.

The Master Bedroom, with a dark mood and white furniture, provides a neutral and neat environment for relaxing. Meanwhile, the Children’s Room, with a brighter color scheme, hosts children’s activities throughout the day.

The Entertainment Area, with green color access, provides a comfortable place to congregate and spend time with guests. Home offices with strong dark color nuances encourage clients to work with attention in the room.

Selalu saja ada cerita yang menarik di balik perjalanan pengerjaan sebuah proyek. Mulai dengan bertemu klien, perancangan hingga finishing keseluruhan. And, it is happened in USP Residence Project!

Proyek hunian yang berlokasi jantung kota Singapura, menjadi tantangan tersendiri bagi TSDS Interior Architects, karena komunikasi antara klien dan sang desainer yang terbilang ‘jauh’. Namun hal ini dijadikan semangat dan pencapaian yang menggembirakan untuk TSDS Interior Architects, lantaran hal komunikasi telah terpecahkan, dan klien sepenuhnya percaya untuk pengerjaan USP Residence Project ini.

Selama 12 bulan, TSDS Interior Architects berhasil menyelesaikan apartemen berlantai dua yang bergaya desain “understated luxury” dengan penghuni pasangan muda dengan satu anak perempuan. USP Residence dirancang dengan gaya desain atau filosofi tersebut, melalui komposisi/permainan penggunaan material dalam 1 ruangan yang memadukan unsur kayu, batu, kain dengan finishing yang berbeda untuk setiap material tersebut. Selain itu, permainan komposisi warna dan tektur pada material menjadi sebuah orkestrasi desain yang harmoni untuk panca indera klien. TSDS Interior Architects percaya bahwa kemewahan tercipta ketika pemilik hunian dengan nyaman dan hangat menempati hasil desain yang tercipta.

Serta, salah satu pertimbangan utama terhadap filosofi desain yang diterapkan TSDS Interior Architects, berhubungan dengan era yang modern ini dimana sudah banyak teknologi yang mampu memfabrikasi material alami membuat banyak orang mulai meninggalkan penggunaan material alami tersebut. Penggunaan / eksploitasi daripada material tertentu terkadang hanya terfokus untuk mecapai suatu kemewahan yang bagi kami menjadi kemewahan semu. Bagi TSDS Interior Architects, menjadi tugas daripada desainer untuk mampu merepresentasikan material alami dan menampilkan keindahan natural yang pada akhirnya menciptakan suatu pengalaman ruang yang bukan hanya indah untuk dilihat tetapi juga dapat di rasakan seluruh panca indera manusia.

Dan, faktor utama dalam merancang proyek ini adalah bagaimana proses desain USP Residence diawali dengan penempatan dan perubahan fungsi ruang existing menjadi sesuai kebutuhan klien. Ketersediaan dimensi ruang yang cukup terbatas terhadap kebutuhan fungsi klien menjadi fokus utama bagi TSDS Interior Architects.

Pada USP Residence yang ingin TSDS Interior Architects  tampilkan bukan sebuah kemewahan visual, melainkan suatu pengalaman ruang yang teduh sehingga penghuni rumah dapat menjadikan tempat ini sebagai tempat berlibur atau singgah dari kepenatan hidup di kota metropolitan. Like a sanctuary!

Permintaan klien yang menginginkan bagaimana membuat sebuah komposisi desain dengan penggunaan material elegan dan juga pemilihan furniture yang nyaman dan desain yang longlasting, menjadikan kolaborasi epic antara TSDS Interior Architects dan Christian Liaigre, yang merupakan salah satu furniture produk terbaik di dunia.

Kualitas desain dan material daripada furniture Christian Liaigre sangat sejalan dengan konsep perancangan dan ekspektasi daripada klien. Tim desainer percaya sebuah desain yang baik merupakan sebuah kerja kolaborasi. Sehingga penggunaan furniture dan dekorasi yang tepat akan menjadi bagian yang berkontribusi dalam menciptakan sebuah hunian yang nyaman. Setiap furniture dan ornamen tidak saling bertanding dengan konsep interior, melainkan saling melengkapi dan menambahkan nilai estetika dan kenyamanan dalam hunian. Selaras dengan konsep“understated luxury” TSDS Interior Architects memilih Kitchen Cabinet dari Molteni&C Dada koleksi terbaru yang baru saja dirilis, demi memenuhi tampilan mewah pada dapur.

USP Residence juga ‘mengalami‘ treatment khusus pada tiap ruang. Secara garis besar TSDS Interior Architects  selalu memberikan 1 aksen utama untuk setiap ruangan sebagai center of attraction.

Seperti pada ruang keluarga kehadian komposisi permainan ceiling dengan partisi geser memberikan perasaan yang lebih intimate kedalam ruang interior. Permainan kisi-kisi mengharmonisasi cahaya matahari yang masuk memberikan dimensi terang gelap yang dimanis pada ruang keluarga. Penggunaan pencahayaan pada setiap ruangan juga berfokus pada penerangan terhadap furniture dan elemen artwork yang tertera pada dinding. Penggunaan pencahayaan general yang sangat minim, justru menambah suasana ruang dan bagaimana penghuni rumah dapat mengapresiasi tekstur dari setiap material yang digunakan. Dengan perkembangan teknologi, banyak keluarga tidak lagi menghabiskan waktu di ruang keluarga juga lebih fokus untuk bermain dengan gadget ketimbang saling berkomunikasi.

Sehingga secara khusus pada ruang ini TSDS Interior Architects  merancang sebuah ruang yang di khususkan untuk anggota keluarga duduk santai dengan nyaman tanpa media elektronik. Komposisi dari Plafon Kayu dan Partisi geser kayu menghadirkan suasana ruang yang terus berubah dari pagi hingga malam sehingga ruang tidak terasa membosankan. Setiap perubahan cahaya dan bayangan yang menyinari ruang keluarga memberikan kehangatan untuk sekedar duduk dan bercerita. Aksentuasi merah menjadi pemanis yang menghidupkan di suasana ruangan yang teduh. Penggunaan material dan komposisi diantara batu, kayu, dan dinding putih menambah perasaan teduh dan tenang, terisolasi dari kebisingan kota.

Dan, pemilihan motif marmer yang elegan dengan finishing honed, menambahkan keindahan di dalam setiap ruang, menghilangkan kesan monoton dan kaku.

Penggunaan warna di setiap ruangan juga merepresentasikan cerita dan pengalaman yang berbeda, ruang keluarga dengan warna netral dan aksen merah menjadi area yang dinamis untuk klien menghabiskan banyak waktunya.

Sedangkan, Kamar Utama dengan suasana gelap ditambahkan balutan furniture berwarna putih memberikan suasana yang netral dan rapih untuk beristirahat. Sementara, Kamar anak dengan suasana warna yang lebih terang mengakomodir aktivitas anak di sepanjang hari.

Entertainment area dengan akses warna hijau memberikan kenyamanan untuk berkumpul dan menghabiskan waktu bersama tamu. Home Office dengan nuansa solid warna gelap membantu klien untuk bekerja dengan fokus di dalam ruang tersebut.

TSDS Interior Architects sangat mengapresiasikan pada setiap tim yang terlibat dalam proyek ini, kontraktor, desainer lampu, dan koordinator proyek yang telah bekerjasama dengan maksimal dan sepenuh hati selama proses perancangan dan renovasi.
