A Taste of Timeless British Elegance

“Afternoon Tea at The Langham is more than a meal — it’s a refined ritual, a pause to indulge and reconnect. We honour tradition while reimagining it with thoughtful details, from curated flavours to panoramic views, creating a uniquely Langham experience in Jakarta.”Alexander Poindle, General Manager, The Langham, Jakarta

Now, The Langham, Jakarta invites guests to experience this British tradition reimagined through the culinary mastery of Michelin-starred chef Tom Aikens.  Launching at ALICE, the hotel’s bright and elegant dining space, Tom’s Afternoon Tea pays homage to the legacy of The Langham, London — the birthplace of afternoon tea in 1865 — while presenting a contemporary interpretation designed for today’s discerning palates.

Where Tradition Meets Modern Elegance
Step into ALICE, where Parisian bistro charm blends seamlessly with modern British flair. With warm brass accents, soft Art Deco details, and a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere, it’s the perfect setting for leisurely afternoons, casual gatherings, or refined celebrations.

Afternoon tea at The Langham is not just about food — it’s about heritage. Once a ritual enjoyed by Victorian aristocracy (with whispers of Queen Victoria herself partaking at The Langham, London), this tradition has gracefully traveled through time and across continents, now finding a new chapter in Jakarta.

The Culinary Journey
The experience begins with a series of classic finger sandwiches. Highlights include the Coronation Chicken Sandwich, a dish steeped in history, created to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation; the refreshing Cucumber Sandwich; and the indulgent Smoked Salmon on Brioche, delicately balanced with lemon cream cheese and roe.

Savouries follow, featuring the beloved Prawn Marie Rose — plump prawns dressed in a tangy, creamy sauce, embodying British comfort with a refined touch.

No afternoon tea would be complete without sweets, and here the classics shine. The Victoria Sponge Cake, light and airy with layers of cream and strawberry preserve, captures the very essence of English teatime. Adding a touch of theatre, the Lemon Drizzle Cake is served tableside from a roaming trolley, evoking the charm of traditional tearoom rituals.

Presented by Le Chateau Living

Of course, the heart of any Langham afternoon tea remains the signature scones, warm and golden, served with clotted cream and homemade strawberry jam — a delicious nod to the eternal Devon versus Cornwall debate.

Priced at IDR 888,000++ for two, this indulgent ritual is available starting 20 August.

Perfect Pairings
The menu is complemented by a curated selection of fine teas, ranging from robust English Breakfast to delicate floral blends. For those seeking something unexpected, the Bramble Cocktail — a refreshing mix of gin, lemon, and house-made blackberry liqueur — offers a modern sip to pair with timeless flavours.
