Double Awards for HIDEO’s Bathtubs for the Second Consecutive Year

Hideo was announced as a double winner again this year on the occasion of the 2024 German Design Award, the prestigious international acknowledgement assigned by the German Design Council to particularly innovative products.

For the second consecutive year, the brand won two awards in the category “Excellent Product Design – Bath and Wellness” with the two bathtubs MN-1450/Moon and TR-1620/Trono, both designed by Hideo Shimizu. On the occasion of the award ceremony, which took place on 26 January last, the designer and founder of Hideo, received the awards in front of a vast audience of professionals and industry experts.

The two sculpture-tubs interpret the Japanese concept of the bath intended as a rite for body and soul, and combine a minimal yet soft and enveloping design with ideal comfort and safety. The modular nature of “the MN-1450/Moon tub – as the jury pointed out – makes it possible to install two tubs so close to each other that you get the impression that they are overlapping.

In addition, the spacious seat offers a valuable support as you dive into the water”. Based on a harmonious encounter between circular and squared lines, the TR-1620/Trono tub has a generous size, which allows it to host up to two people immersed in total relaxation. This latter aspect was particularly appreciated by the jury as it shows that “with its slanted sides, the tub promises a high level of seating comfort and support for the back, which makes it even more appealing”.
