Beautifully Decorated by A Series of Wild Animals

Dior membuka Pop-up store pertama di Jakarta bulan November lalu, menampilkan Cruise 2019 Collection. Berlokasi di La Moda Plaza Indonesia Mall, store ini terinspirasi dari Escaramuzas, pengendara kuda wanita dari Meksiko.

Pop-up store bergaya unik ini tampil total merepresentasikan tema Cruise collection 2019, di mana motif binatang-binatang terlihat mulai dari pelapis dinding hingga replika gajah, jerapah dan binatang lainnya dalam ukuran asli memeriahkan Pop-up store tersebut. Tampilnya seri binatang liar dan pelapis dinding dengan motif binatang liar dan hutan merupakan interpretasi ulang dari ‘toile de Jouy’.

Koleksi bertajuk Diorodeo ini menampilkan gaya unik pengendara kuda wanita tradisional Meksiko, yang berhak ikut dalam pertunjukan charreada – sama seperti para pengendara pria. Kostum feminin yang amat kontras dengan aktivitas berbau maskulin ini menjadi sumber inspirasi Maria Grazia Chiuri, Artistic Director Dior women’s collections. Untuk koleksi Cruise 2019, Chiuri menginterpretasikan elemen-elemen ini melalui kombinasi tradisi dan kebebasan dalam gaya kontemporer.

Rok lebar dan extravagant dipadukan dengan jaket ketat yang menonjolkan pinggang yang ramping, dan diperkuat oleh aksen belt yang tinggi. Variasi material terlihat dari bahan Prancis klasik toile de Jouy, dengan latar belakang binatang liar termasuk harimau dan ular; bahan renda tipis maupun tebal, serta material kontemporer seperti rok tulle dan sepatu boots karet.

Maria Grazia Chiuri juga mengeksplorasi beberapa gaya yang menerabas batasan gender. Jaket dari katun Jepang dipasangkan dengan celana dalam berbagai bentuk, rok kulot, atau dress haute couture dari koleksi 1948. Referensi novel The House of the Spirits karya penulis Chile Isabel Allende juga tampak melalui topi jerami lebar yang didesain Stephen Jones, serta perpaduan gaun putih berbordir tradisional dengan aksen renda dan chantilly.
