Lightness, Poetry, Irony
Poetry and lightness coexist in this bold, novel collection that takes its inspiration from the stylistic expressions of the 1950s and 1960s. Roberto Lazzeroni interprets the dialogue between tradition and modernity, building an interpretation poetically connected to this familiar imagery. Like splinters, the tiles in Venetian Crystal combine irony and rigor. Visibly anchored to the structural ring, they screen the light source and establish proportional relationships of remarkable impact.

Suspension with a circular plan, with two or more floors, the metal structure contains a double row of light bulbs shielded by an opaline glass tube. Placed in front of the bulbs there are curved glass tiles, mechanically fixed to the structure.

The lamp draws inspiration from the models of the ’50s/’60s, when a way was sought to combine the tradition of Murano glass with the demands for modernity and renewal, which could be felt in the country at that time, an “economic miracle” more than the achievements of great quality that have existed and have come down to the present day, what interested me was that set of more or less successful attempts, of lamps, perhaps not designed by famous architects, which we will define as proto design. These are the premises for the PUNK lamp project for Barovie &Toso, a historic Murano company with great traditions. Roberto wanted to make a lamp in which this story could be read and summarized in three words: lightness, poetry, irony.

Lightness: visually light because modernity is recognized in lightness.
Poetry: as a poetic object, that is, linked to memory, which refers to familiar images, in which one can recognize oneself.
Irony: because designing a lamp for Barovier&Toso, made of glass tiles, which simulate splinters of different designs, mechanically attached to a metal structure. It is a very ironic operation.
