La nuova stanza
25th February / 2nd April 2021
Monday-Friday 10am – 7pm
Pianca & Partners
Via Porta Tenaglia 7N3
20121 Milan
Archetipi, Portali, Buratti, Marmi caldi, Lampade sorelle, Pinocchio, a world populated by objects, sculptures andsketches that draw on the concepts of simplicity and elegance.
Simple, natural materials like iron, stone, marble, ceramic and fabric demonstrate the profound and discreet design style of one of the most important masters of Italian design.
“La nuova stanza is a happy room, full of life, where design is not the product of new technologies, but derives from a different energy, full of insights and surprises. It’s a room that creates a sense of serene happiness…
The puppets, the music, the ceramics, the maquettes, the lamps and the Plexiglas pieces stand out as if they had just been reborn, like when we move into a new house…
In the harsh, walled part of Milan, between Porta Tenaglia and Via Legnano, the huge glass windows shine brightly as if a new music was bouncing from one note to the next…
As happened after the great plagues, the world is starting over and like tiny convalescents, we are going back to viewing our puppets with a different light and colour…
This childlike and (perhaps) temporary Renaissance is the introduction to various Rooms, in which everything is jumbled up, design with toys, culture with surprises, Art Galleries with showrooms…” – Andrea Branzi
In the heart of the new Pianca & Partners space, the selection of works by Andrea Branzi spans different eras and moments in his artistic career.
Presented by MOIRE Rugs
The furniture, surfaces and complements of the 27 partner brands of Pianca & Partners become a backdrop for the show, spread out across the spaces of the showroom. It’s an unusual display arrangement, which creates an overlap of styles and experiences that shows the public a new meaning in the relationship between the works and their setting.
Concepts, ideas, designs and objects of pure artistic study mingle with standard elements, not dissimilar to the ones which will host them in homes, offices, public and private spaces when they fall into the hands of the collectors.
The point of such an unusual arrangement for an exhibition of this calibre is to present the works in a natural relationship with elements that are part of our lives, to better show off the meaning and force of those ideas and conceptual representations.
“La nuova stanza” is the first signal of Pianca & Partners’s desire to go down non-commercial routes in constructing a hub for relations focussing on design culture.
